How Often Should You Actually Get a Haircut?

The honest answer depends on your cut, your hair type, and your goals. Here's a simple guide to timing your visits.

“How often should I come in?” is the question we get most. Here’s the real answer.

Short cuts: every 3–5 weeks

Precision shapes — pixies, bobs, fades — grow out of their lines quickly. If you love the way it looks fresh, plan on every 3 to 5 weeks.

Medium to long: every 8–12 weeks

If you’re growing your hair out, you don’t need to chase it with frequent cuts. A dusting every couple of months keeps the ends healthy without sacrificing length.

Color is its own schedule

Root touch-ups are usually every 4–6 weeks; balayage and lived-in color can stretch to 10–14 weeks because it’s designed to grow out softly. That’s the whole point of it.

The real rule

Book your next appointment based on when your hair stops feeling like itself — not a fixed number. Not sure? Come in for a free consultation and we’ll map out a plan.
